Abe's Telescope Reviews

There are currently a wide variety of different telescope designs to choose from. Popular optical configurations include traditional Refractors (achromatic, apochromatic, or semi-apochromatic), Newtonian reflectors, Dobsonian reflectors, Schmidt-Cassegrains, Maksutov Cassegrains (Both Rumak and Gregorian), Classical Cassegrains and many others. In addition, a wide variety of mounts, finder scopes, diagonals, and other accessories are avaiable. This page contains some telescope reviews based upon personal experience with a variety of different telescopes that I have owned, used, and cared for.

Meade 2080 8" Schmidt Cassegrain

This classic telescope has been my main telescope for many years. Over time, I have come to appreciate many aspects of its design.

Intes M503 5" Maksutov Cassegrain

This little Russian made telescope is an excellent general purpose telescope. I selected it mainly because it is the largest aperture, high quality telescope that I can easily carry outside in one piece.
